For every new president, a budget to change the look of the White House is a major design over-haul every 4 or 8 years. The White House goes through changing furniture, artwork, and taking over major renovation and structural changes.
“For both public and private spaces, the president's family can sort through first-rate spoils instead of relying on shopping trips. There's a White House storage house with old furniture (like four-poster beds) and an art collection with about 500 sculptures, drawings, and paintings…”(www.slate.com- “How Much Can An Incoming President Change White House Décor”)
Here’s a look at the White House upholstery shop during John F. Kennedy’s presidency. We can only imagine the kind of work that was done here. Amazing antiques and luxurious fabrics at the finger tips of the interior designers and first ladies.

Do you remember Jacqueline Kennedy’s White House tour?
“On February 14, 1962, Kennedy took American television viewers on a tour of the White House with Charles Collingwood of CBS News. In the tour she said, ‘I just feel that everything in the White House should be the best—the entertainment that's given here. If it's an American company you can help, I like to do that. If not—just as long as it's the best.’ (The Film Archives-You Tube)
Part workroom and part design-studio, Tapicería, which in Spanish means “upholsterer” is the heart of our showroom. We believe good design starts out with an artist, craftsman, and people who are passionate creating something truly authentic. Our showroom unconventionally highlights an old-world craft amidst a modern stage. Come by and meet co-owner and master upholsterer, Bernardino: skilled, experienced, and a performing artist in his own realm.

After many months of conceptualizing the design, “install day” is the most rewarding because we get to finally see it all come together. As much as we love highlighting the finished product, we think it’s also valuable to share with you every detail in “action”.

Here’s “something great” that we made for Eric Brand, an internationally recognized residential and hospitality furniture designer. With attention to detail such as the "baseball stitching" and use of opulent, high quality materials, we achieved making something truly unique but most importantly, it meets a creative vision directed by our client. Do you have a vision for something great? If so, let us make it for you!
As creators, we refer to the past for inspiring and ground breaking designs. We honor the genius masters of our time and time’s past. May it be a painter, architect or a sculpture; seeking the truth is always at stake for men and women who take up creative occupations. For furniture makers, truth lies in every thread that meets a needle, fabric that meets a wood-frame, and a ruler that dictates size and scale. A craftsman’s place of worship is where materials come together as one. It’s a place that inspires him to create honest work, a place to express his god-given talent.

We’re talking about "chocolate"!
Across the street from our studio is the Guittard Chocolate Factory. If lucky while visiting, you’ll be greeted by an infectious aroma of “mom’s freshly baked brownies”. Unintended and a bit serendipitous, our studio’s chocolate-colored walls (Benjamin Moore’s- Mink #2112-10) are looking pretty “sweet”, too!
these decadent walls serve as a perfect backdrop for the ever changing pieces at the studio. and rightly so for these handsome set of dining chairs that we had recently acquired and carefully restored.

The Eames Lounge Chair is an American icon and the godfather of modern lounge chairs. Over 50 years after its inception, it’s still regarded as the most comfortable and highly sought after chair. Even if you don’t know it’s an “Eames” you're probably familiar with the shape, classic leather tufts, and plywood design.
If you're lucky to have inherited your grandfather’s chair or maybe you just purchased a vintage original, bring it by and we’ll be happy to give it a fresh start. Choose any leather or even a fabric. It's your choice.

We really enjoy these vintage Herman Miller ads because it ‘s the kind of nostalgia we still cling to.
It isn't too often that we are asked to produce pieces beyond chairs. But, special projects are the type of work that gets us excited. Here's a project that involved fabricating custom wall panels that have been meticulously clad in supple leather.
